Birth of Alan Freed

Alan Freed Alan Freed,also known as Moondog born 15 December 1922 at Johnstown in Pennsylvania and died on 20January 1965 in Palm Springs in California, is a disc jockey radio that played a major role in promoting rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues in the 1950s.

Alan Freed began his career as a radio sports commentator WKST to New Castle in Pennsylvania, then became program director at WKBN in Youngstown in the Ohio, then WIBE in Philadelphia. Alan Freed was the first DJ White has strong support of black artists playing the "devil's music". The big station in New York is a golden bridge to Alan Freed in 1954. Freed then runs its programs live from the Paramount Theater in Brooklyn. Freed then passes at WABC.

Freed is also an actor in several films dealing with the beginnings of rock 'n' roll along with his musician friends.These include "Rock Around the Clock (1956), Rock, Rock, Rock (1956), Mr. Rock and Roll ( 1957 ), Don't Knock the Rock ( 1957 ) and Go, Johnny Go! (1959).

The media career Freed is not limited to radio and television also uses his talents. In 1957, his TV show is canceled when the black singer Frankie Lymon was filmed dancing with a white woman. He also signs some song lyrics for Chuck Berry among others.

Following the scandal Payola, Alan Freed is totally discredited by a good American company which was, at last, revenge. The trial was held in December 1962 and Alan Freed chose to plead guilty, inheriting a formal fine of $ 300. End 1964, new attacks on fuse taxation Freed, then to the hospital. He died on 20 January 1965.
